Hermès Oran Sandal Honest Review | Is the Oran Sandal Worth It? | Why I Returned
Unpopular Opinion: I returned my HermèS Oran Sandals
After countless hours of research on blogs and forums searching for the PERFECT minimal summer sandal that is *totally worth the investment, I ended up deciding, no, in fact, the Oran is not worth the investment. I am here to tell you why.
Let’s start off by stating:
I love a good designer item
It is EXTREMELY rare for me to return a designer item
I love Hermès, in fact, I have numerous “useless” items from them. So here I thought, Wow I do not have these fabulous sandals everyone and their mother seems to have, maybe they are the perfect summer shoe that would compliment my wardrobe that everyone says to be the case.
Now that I have had the pleasure to purchase these online and try them on, it is as if the illusion of these sandals has been broken. I have awakened to the false promises of the Oran, and see how many women are suffering from the cruel joke of Hermès.
These are NOT WORTH IT! Not worth the $660
My story of the Oran Sandal:
I purchased the sandal this summer directly from the Hermès website. I had debated purchasing these sandals since 2018 and finally felt ready to indulge. They had been on my radar from many Swedish bloggers and seeing them all over my Pinterest.
I ordered in my usual size: 40 My foot is a very stable size 40 in most European brands. I know my size, as an even more fun backstory, I once worked in a shoe department many moons ago.
My foot is very average in width, not particularly wide or narrow.
On a bold decision, I selected the color, Blanc.
My hopes were to have a great simple slide sandal for the summer to elevate my outfits from my go-to worn in Birkenstocks that I literally slide on daily in the summer. I wanted to feel a little less casual than the Birk. Something comfortable, classy, and a little extra. This was what I was promised by the countless women raving about these sandals.
As soon as I opened the box after days of eager anticipation, I slid on the Oran sandals and, NOPE!

What the actual f***?! Never in my life has my toe looked so unsightly. So large. So non-contained. It was bad. I did not even get a chance to photograph the shoe properly besides on my phone because I just wanted to remove them. My mother was with me at the time, she was also appalled by the sandal and how bad it made my foot look.
I wondered if was this just my foot that was so deformed that the beautiful Oran did not work for me. So I dug deeper into my investigations.
Compiled below is a collage of toes that do not appear to fit in this shoe. Even going to the official Hermès website the model’s toes do not fit!
As I was pulling up these images, my husband walked into the room, saw the screen, and said “EW, what is wrong with that woman’s toe?” I proceeded to tell him of my investigations about the “toe thing”
Once seen it cannot be unseen.

I am an extremely thorough person, not one to not prove a point, I revisited the website, and screenshotted the video of the sandals. The photos hide the toe issue, but here it is clearly seen in the above image, that even the foot model’s ring & big toes hang off this sandal.
The toe thing seems to be a reoccurring theme.
The above photo is a compilation of feet from blogs wearing this sandal. They seem to have the same toe issue occurring.
So my conclusion is no, the Hermès Oran Sandal is not worth it, unless you want to receive a toe complex, or your foot is so narrow that this does not occur for you. Please save your money here, and can we please stop trying to say that this is the perfect summer investment? It is not, and it looks like women have been blinded by the brand to not point out the obvious here.
What I got instead was a slide sandal from one of my favorite handmade shoe companies in Spain, from Mallorca, that I visited the shop myself and saw a man hand sewing bespoke shoes from quality leathers. As I keep saying, I am loyal to quality, not brands. These sandals were 100% better, less expensive at 189 euro, and felt more luxurious & durable compared to the Oran.
