The Countdown Till Baby
What an interesting time, the last weeks of pregnancy. The days slowly tick by, like a ticking time bomb, awaiting the inevitable beginning of birth, thus a grand finale concluding the pregnancy and the start of new life.
It is funny, because you wait, unknowing when “it” will begin. So you pass the days, trying to act normal, yet also enjoying the peace, the calm, the final moments before the transformation of maiden to mother. Each hour that passes is one-hour closer, each minute, each day. Already, the sense of time is warped, as you try to grasp your mind around the upcoming changes. Which, of course, are futile besides surrendering and being open and curious of what is to come. Who is to come? Who you will become.

I am looking forward to meeting baby, as well as meeting and discovering my new self, as well as my husband’s new self as a father. To add a new additional component to our teamwork: parenting.
It may sound weird, but I am also looking forward to the home birth, how it will unfold, a new experience and challenge. We have started preparing the room. The curtains are sewn, the items are almost all gathered, and the bed is made and protected. My mind is being prepared by listening to Hypnobabies tracks, as well as my own knowledge of the power of the subconscious mind combined with the mind-body connection.
This pregnancy has been smooth, stress-free, and a beautiful time of change. Listening and trusting my body, nourishing myself and baby with healthy foods, as well as being connected to the creative force flowing within.
My patience is growing thin, however, with questions from other people placing expectations on “dates” as well as them trying to project their own fears and insecurities upon me. I have truly learned the extent of how much others have fears of the unknown. Since creation is inevitably filled with unknowns, which is part of the beauty of the mystery, it is better to swim with it. Embrace the changes, be curious. Most importantly, know where you stand. Hold firm in your beliefs, and instead of holding on to fear and seeking others to either validate them, reassure you, or exploit them. Have faith in the process of creation, have faith in God, and have faith in the fact that our bodies are vastly intelligent.
