Best Blonde Colorist in Stockholm- Review

*Edit This draft is from 2016 finally finishing it up***Not Sponsored***

After living in Stockholm for almost 4 years it was really difficult to find the right colorist. Especially considering the number of salons there are and the lack of information and reviews.

In Stockholm there are so many different salons that it is overwhelming, it feels like there is almost one on every corner! In addition to the magnitude of choices, there are few reviews as to how good of job you will receive from the colorists. I do not have easy Scandinavian hair so I couldn't judge the results based off of some Instagram photos. I have wavy thin to medium type hair but I have a ton of hair that makes it appear thick. Additionally, my natural hair color is a medium to dark brown which is a darker base than the typical Scandinavian color.

I also found out that hairdressers in Stockholm do not need a beauty license so you can really mess up your hair. I had one nightmare salon that took me 2 years to fix and get my hair healthy again!

Brutally Honest reviews of the salons incoming that I actually went to and how I felt they treated my hair. I wish I had a guide when I was living there, and I had to do all the research to find salons on my own.

Please forgive some of these pictures and their quality, I'm really digging deep to get these photos! Salons are shown in order of when I visited.

Rapunzel of Sweden,  Regeringsgatan 67

4/5

I went to Sofie two times for coloring (I think or maybe three) and my first and last experience with extensions. Overall she did a pretty decent job. I was happy with the tape extensions until it came down to removing them. It took my mom 7 hours! They were really attached. This was the first salon I went to in Stockholm all the way back in 2014, so there will always be a place in my heart for Rapunzel. They also introduced me to Olaplex, which forever saved my hair. I did love the princess hair Sofie gave me, so if you want extensions they can hook you up. I just have way too much hair already to handle them, and extensions are too high maintenance for me.

Side note, I also purchased their clip in extensions, 1 pack is way too little for my hair and the quality in the clip-ins is not the best. I would recommend the clips from Luxy they are thicker.

After the first time at Rapunzel- An insane amount of extensions in my hair but the color is rather nice! October 8, 2014

Color and extensions from the front. God, these pictures are so old! From my apartment when I lived in Märsta, I tried to forget about those times and the commute!

Look how much hair! Really hard not to edit these pictures but trying to show the colors accurately.

Ugliest photo ever, but why I will never tape in extensions again! These really start to show and look like little larva, plus you feel the extensions pulling out at your scalp and you cant really get to your scalp.

In between Swedish colorists, I went back to my salon in Chicago, Salon Buzz and had Jamie give me some darker roots to let me have more time in between colorists since I wasn't fully happy with the colors and needed time without ugly roots. I love Salon Buzz have been going there when I can since I was 18!

I did not really like this salon. I saw Anna on the 23 of March 2015. Now I know it's not the fairest to review this so harshly since I asked her to make me a brunette and cut my hair, so it was a drastic change. The brown was dull, the salon was a tad bit cold and pretentious, and I did not leave too happy. Additionally, I have tried their sea salt spray, it smells like a strong hairspray and makes my hair worse. Probably better for Scandinavian hair..? I also tried their moisturizing mask which was also disappointing. Their purple shampoo is the only product I used multiple times. I don't know but overall I was disappointed by the coloring and the products I tried. I really wanted to like this salon, their interior is so pretty and their product packaging is so nice.

OK, here are the results, I hate sharing these pictures since it was not a cute look!!  I felt 10 again.... but with a dull already washed out brown.

Same day color. Look at that forced unsure smile. The smile of that what the hell did I do to my hair!!! Please forgive my eyebrow, it is frowning.

At least the lob cut is cute..... nothing else was.....

This lasted not even two months and I went back to Rapunzel on May 11 2015. I then got a mix of red/blonde/bronde I had no idea what color I was. Here are some more not cute hair pics.

is it red? Is it brown? Is it blonde? Who knows. But I know I was bad going from blonde to brown to blonde and it is tough to get the color correct right away.

So still never fully pleased the search continued. I tried out a keratin at Dazzling Beauty. It lasted 2 washes... but they were doing some nice extensions on the chairs next to me and some good blondes. Don't know why I didn't try there for color. They didn't have very good ventilation I do remember that. Maybe thats why.

Overall the colors I received in Stockholm were a dull-ish, not bright oxidized blonde that I wasn't fully pleased with.

Around this time I posted in my blog about a keratin from Salon Buzz again and Jamie yet again fixed my color in Chicago. This pictire is still the confused hair color from Rapunzel

SALONG KAMELEONTEN 1/5

Odengatan 23, 114 24 Stockholm

Angelica, September 4th 2015, My hair was healthy before. When I left I had hot roots, she did not even blowdry my hair since she was scared it would break off!  I instantly saw breakage the same day. I would not go here!!!!! Red hot roots, breakage, and yeah. No olaplex and bleach overlap, I think this is when my hair started to get really hella dry and damaged.

Photo from the same day of color. I like how bright and bleached my ends are...

Look how red!

Look how red!

I think once the red happened I started rediscovering my love of beanies and hats. So there was a positive. I then found a colorist in Amsterdam who got me platinum blonde. Fun, but even more damage done.

You Sotckholm/ Lyko Concept 4/5

Vicki did my mom's hair first and did a Baylage on her. She has even darker hair so it is challenging to get the color right. 4/5 for the friendliness of staff, the interior, and the products! They are probably the coolest and nicest salon I visited in Stockholm. A score of 4/5 because of the expensive price. They are on the more expensive side and I still didn't have my wow factor moment.  On March 15, 2016 I saw Vicki and she gave me a blue gloss. I don't feel like I got too much of a change in my hair for the price but I really liked Vicki! Favorite overall salon vibes and interior in Stockholm.

Hair Lounge- Mall of Scandinavia 3/5

I did not go here but I waited for my mom to get her color done. Normally I am skeptical of Mall salons, I even forgot the name of which salon we went to I had to check the map just now! My mom recieved an ombre coloring and I thought it looked pretty good. My mom, on the other hand, was just ok with it and felt like it looked like she had too overgrown roots. She also said her hair felt a little damaged afterward. I forgot the colorist's name but she was really cute and friendly!

Antonio Axu  5/5

Sibyllegatan 18 114 49

Well here was my favorite. I have seen Janet and Antonio. Janet colored my hair first after going 6 months without any coloring. Antonio claims to be the creme de la creme of Stockholm and he is the celebrity colorist. He and Janet are excellent and I finally felt happy and excited upon leaving the salon. I am happy I discovered them, but sad it was right before moving. If I return to Stockholm I would go there again. I liked the feel of his salon, and I even bought his brush... My only complaint was that he is anti Olaplex. I finally expereinced the spring in your step hair flipping moment upon leaving so that was a happy change!
