After Months of Work, Our Roof is Complete

After several long months of waiting for the last of the copper to arrive, we finally have the finishing touches of the roof complete. This did not occur before snow stuck to the ground, but it is so great that this project has now come to a close. Now, we can finally say the roof work is over!

It is really up to nature and the weather for these exterior projects. We have such a short window of summer weather to get in all that we need for the year. We are already planning our next project. We experienced MAJOR delays with our carpenter, so we needed to find a new one for next year to fix the siding rot, which needs to be completed before we have the painter come. It is a balancing act managing the contractors, and working with the weather and their schedules. Our house takes longer than they originally anticipated, which puts us behind schedule for our projects.

It is such a relief to have the house protected and sealed off from the elements. One MAJOR improvement, that I did not think would be so game-changing was the new copper gutter from our balcony diverting away from a dark corner. Before, whenever it would rain, or the snow would melt, my husband had to go down to the basement to squeegee the floors from all the water that would enter. Now, this is no longer a problem and that is SUCH an improvement!

I am loving the copper! It was a great design upgrade, and I love that it is living, and will patina, as well as being super durable.

Enjoy some of the photos from the project, and the completion.
