Italy Florence
Hey there
Wow there were a lot of pictures from Italy. Didn't have a hair dryer so my hair was definitely doing all kinds of crazy on the trip! My friend Jenna from Culver came to Stockholm and decided to do a trip to Italy while she was here. We flew from Stockholm to Florence. Took about 7 hours!
We were able to do a wine tasting. I probably would suggest going to a different vineyard than the one we were at. I thought that we would see the plants and be able to buy an individual bottle. The one we were at just did mail orders for bulk so I didn't want to spend a 600 euro minimum to ship to Sweden! I also had a goose try to attack me while I was taking a picture! I'll include that ;) Silly me to disturb it for a picture.
The first part of the trip was a little weird. I think that is why I have been so reluctant to post about it. Don't really want to go in to the details there. Basically we weren't able to do much sightseeing or exploring. The second half we stayed at the Ciao Hostel in Florence and that was much better! We made some friends while we were there and were on our own schedule for the trip! We did a mini day trip to the beach which I will include in the next post! That was amazing and so nice having some sunny weather and beach. So relaxing.
Florence is a really small town so I would suggest staying for no more than 3 days and then seeing other parts of Italy. It is super crowded in Florence! Plus you can see all the sights in around that time.
The best gelato we got was from: Gelateria Dondoli in San Gimignano and then Gelateria Santa Trinita in Florence. Be warned about the latter! It melts super fast so we were just trying to keep gelato off of us! It was worth it though!
Speaking of San Gimignano it is a cute little Tuscan medieval hill town that has beautiful views and worth a couple hours detour.
I was also really happy I got to see some Davids around the city. We only went to one museum and it was the Palazzo Strozzi: Power and Pathos. Only 4 euro and a beautiful building. A nice way to kill an hour!
Another must do is go to the Garden of Betrayal. South Park reference.. But it is this absolutely stunning and amazing smelling rose garden. You have to take the walk up this hill then go to the David at the top, stop and see the views of Florence then continue on to the garden! It was so pretty. The best part of strolling around Florence hands down!
Alrighty That is all I have to say about Tuscany until my beach post! Enjoy
