Oktoberfest Munich
Hey guys!
So I'm super excited to say that I just got back from Munich! I flew out last Wednesday and got back yesterday on Sunday. I had an amazing time, Oktoberfest has always been a bucket-list thing for me to do, so it was great to finally go. I was surprised that it is more like a street carnival when you get there. There are rides, food vendors, and last-but-not-least the beer tents. I went Thursday and it was no problem getting into the tents. It wasn't that crowded, and Amanda and I were able to find a table. Then we went on Saturday, ohmygoodness. It was crazy! We woke up at 5:45 to get to Oktoberfest at 7am. We then stood in line to get to the tent. Once we were "in" we had to sit at designated tables in the Beer Garden. They finally let people in to fight for tables but for some reason we were unlucky and everyone stampeded in before us! It was so crowded but eventually Amanda saw a friend so we were able to sit at a table.
Since it is so crowded once you sit at the table you have to order a beer to stay. The beers aren't tiny! So advice for 9am beer drinking is to go slow. It isn't a race and you have to stay in the game the whole day! I think we chose the most crowded day, it was literally so bad we left the tent for fresh air and couldn't get back in despite the stamps they gave us. The only way I was able to get back in was due to the fact one of the waiters was my friend, so he pulled us in past the guard. But if it wasn't for him we would have been stuck in a mosh pit like crowd with people pushing like crazy just to get in to the tent.
Overall I had a great time. Oktoberfest was definitely worth it and a great experience. Plus I loved all the Lederhosen! :) The only negative part was the flight back home. Every flight was overbooked and the lines were just as crazy as the ones getting in to a beer tent!
Until next time!
